Thriller sub genres

This is one of the first things you see in the opening sequence of the film the long shot of the man pointing the gun through the lens sets out the theme of the theme of the film from the start, this being action-thriller. This shot also being a point of view shot which will immediately attract the viewer. The focus on the single man also displays that the film may focus on one main character, this being James Bond. 

This screenshot shows blood dripping down the screen straight after the gun shot of the previous screenshot. This adding further emphasis on the theme as well as adding crime-thriller as a sub theme, this giving hints as to what the film is going to entail e.g. death. 

This screenshot focuses on the use of props which will be in the film, this prop being guns. This adding onto the theme of action/crime thriller as the prop is commonly associated with crimes as well as commonly bring used in action films. 

This screenshot tries to picture someone being shot, this further emphasises the theme on action thriller. Although it shows someone being shot, they are being shot with a spade from a pack of cards. This backing up the name of the film ‘casino royale’ showing that gambling and poker will play a big part in the film. 

This screenshot shows that during the film there could be targets, these targets being people. The screenshot demonstrates that this woman could be a victim making her a target for the villains. This further emphasising on the crime and action theme due to people being a target. This screenshot also shows that the opening sequence focuses largely on cards. 

This foggy distorted view, which is the point of view from the polar bear, shows the fear the bear is feeling after being shot with an arrow. This also showing the start of the bears gradual fall to the ground.  This adding the feeling of suspense to the opening sequence. This is adding to the adventure action thriller due to the suspense and fear felt by the bear. 

This scene adds in the theme of isolation due to the bear being isolated looking onto the bare patch of snow having nowhere to go; allowing the audience to feel emotions for the bear as well as adding tension and suspense to the shot. 

This screenshot shows again the point of view from the bear looking up at the child. This shot shows the childs clothing and props, these being very warm clothing displaying the very cold weather again to the audience. As well as this the child is already wearing fur on her head, displaying that this is something which show does on a regular basis, shooting bears. As well as this she has arrows on her back; showing that she is fully prepared in case of an attack or if she sees an opportunity arise. This adds to the theme of adventure thriller as the child is fully prepared to survive by herself. 

This shot is one of the last shots in the opening sequence, this showing the girl pointing a gun at the bear again it being from the view point of the bear. This is where the child shoots the bear due to her arrow not being as successful as she had wished, showing the girl to come across emotionless but courageous whilst doing this. This leaving the audience to be questioning as the opening sequence finishes, leaving them in suspense. The prop being used here, the gun, adds to the sub theme action thriller as it is commonly seen in action films. This can also leave the audience asking questions as a gun is something which you would not expect the young girl to have due to her using arrows and her clothing. 

This screenshot shows a point of view shot, it being from the bears point of view. This enables the audience to see the girl from the bears point of view allowing them to feel emotion for the bear or suspense as the arrow ifs pointing towards the audience. This immediately gives of the theme of adventure action thriller. This is because the child attempting to fire an arrow at the bear in front of her whilst being outside, isolated in a cold icy setting.
